چکیده

Titanium alloys, particularly Ti6Al4V, are commonly used in biomedical applications. However, the inclusion of aluminum (Al) and vanadium (V) this alloy can cause cytotoxic effects human body, resulting Alzheimer’s disease cancer. This study compares performance biocompatible alloys containing non-toxic elements, such as tin (Sn) niobium (Nb), which considered safe for implantation. Two sets were selected, Ti5Sn Ti5Sn5Nb, their properties compared to Ti6Al4V. First, prepared using a power metallurgical technique. Then, phase analysis, hardness, wear resistance, strength, corrosion simulated body fluid (SBF) solution characterized. Optical microscopy was microstructure, XRD identify phases, electrochemical testing conducted assess alloys’ anodic cathodic characteristics. Nanoindentation techniques analyze surface characteristics, elastic modulus, nano resistance. The results showed Nb Sn had lower rates SBF Al-containing alloys. Moreover, Nb-containing exhibited highest 72% higher than corrosion-resistant those without or Sn, suggesting they may be ideal orthopedic implants humans.

Local Cellular Responses to Titanium Dioxide from Orthopedic Implants

We evaluated recently published articles relevant to the biological effects of titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles on local endogenous cells required for normal bone homeostasis, repair, and implant osseointegration. Structural characteristics, size, stability, and agglomeration of TiO2 particles alter the viability and behavior of multiple bone-related cell types. Resulting shifts in bone homeos...

Surface modification for titanium implants by hydroxyapatite nanocomposite

Background: Titanium (Ti) implants are commonly coated with hydroxyapatite (HA). However, HA has some disadvantages such as brittleness, low tensile strength and fracture toughness. It is desirable to combine the excellent mechanical properties of ZrO2 and the chemical inertness of Al2O3 with respect to the purpose of this project which was coating Ti implants with HA-ZrO2-Al2O3 to modify the s...

[Study on biocompatibility of titanium alloys].

The biocompatibility of two different titanium alloys, Ti-6Al-4V ELI and Ti-5Al-2, 5Fe, and pure titanium were evaluated. The results were as follows: 1) Titanium alloys were implanted into the dorsal subcutaneous tissues of the Hartley guinea-pig for 12 weeks, immersed in calf serum or in Ringer's solution for 8 weeks. The surface changes of the titanium alloys were observed by SEM and the che...
